Apple Pie

So, this month is 3.14, which is actually national pie month! Devin's school is making a big deal out of it, and inspiring everyone to make a pie and give it away, helping feed people and spread the love! We decided to make some pies tonight. Apple to be exact. They actually turned out fabulous for being my first pies I've ever made! Here's the recipe!

KYLE'S APPLE PIE

Ingredients:

6 medium sized green granny apples thinly sliced (you can peel them but I didn't)
1.5 cups sugar
4 tbs all-purpose flour
1.5 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
2 tbs lemon juice
3 tbs butter
Krusteaz pie crust mix

Directions:
Set oven to 425 degrees.  Add pie crust to glas or metal pie pan. Firmly press the pie crust to the bottom and sides. Set aside. Mix sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, and lemon juice in one bowl. Add apples. Mix together. Add half of the filling to one pie crust, add the other half of the filling to the other. Thinly slice the 3 tbs butter and place over the pies evenly. Put crusts on top of each pie. (You can add strips or one sheet and cut shapes into the top) Put pies in middle of oven. After 10 minutes of baking, take them out and put tin foil on the edges of the crust so they don't burn. Bake for another 30 - 35 minutes (total bake time: 40 - 45 minutes).  Let sit for two hours before serving. Serve with ice cream :)
